forget about culture within a firm, and culture is important not just at an u.s. attorney's office, not just in government, not just in congress, not just at any school or institution it's important. at a business organization and in particular at financial institutions it i'm shocked and amazed at how few people think about that. you have a conference named delivering alpha, but i wonder in my conversations with people, not sitting and reviewing indictments, that they're not spending enough time thinking about the kinds of people they're hiring, the culture they're creating in their firm -- the thing that happens to me a lot, and we talked about this, is in many police stations, not just in the business community but in too many institutions, but we're here to talk about the business community i think, of people wanting to come as close to the line as possible. and they think my job, and the job my corporate council should be is to tell me how close to the line i can get to maximize my profit without going over the line. the problem with that is is it is a dangerous game to play.

for us. bob? >> reporter: there is one person dead, a second critically injured in this plane crash behind me. it's in some woods just outside this neighborhood. you see some of the folks here, firefighters still, police, the faa, ntsb come and where this plane ended up is in woods on the outskirts of this neighborhood just at the end of the runway. we can show you video shot earlier tonight from sky fox. this is a 1960s era beechcraft muskateer that's a four-seater plane, but there were just two pilots on board. one was the new owner of the plane which again is 50 years old practically and also there was another experienced pilot who was a flight instructor. the older man was killed and the younger man in the hospital. this happened just after 7:00 during what witnesses say were touch and goes, the plane landing and touching off repeatedly when at one point the plane experienced some trouble. another pilot was at the airport and he says he saw what happened, heard it and here is dennis stiles. >> the aircraft on its approach at about 300 feet, 400 feet above the ground made an abru

print and joins us now from dc. doug, you have said it is not the retailers or the consumers, but actually visa, mastercard and their banks that win out in this one. why is that? >> unfortunately, this agreement -- and i want to emphasize that it's not a done deal yet. this would allow visa and mastercard to keep fixing the fees, the banks not to compete and the fees to keep going up. we pay them now to the tune of $50 billion a year. and we just don't know it. unfortunately, that's going to continue if this gets pushed through. >> $50 billion a year. that is a number we don't hear very often. but the credit card companies agree to reduce the swipe fees for retailers for eight months. what else is included as part of this settlement? >> well, you have to read the fine print when you deal with credit card companies. and that's true here too. when you read the fine print, it's eye-opening. they're not going to reduce the fees even for the eight months. what they're going to do is give merchants the equivalent of that amount of cash and keep raising the fees. the cruel joke is b
